Mang Inabel began in 2017 as a passion project of two Ilocano siblings who wanted to breathe in new life to the art of inabel weaving. The inabel textile is the indigenous handwoven fabric of the provinces in the Northern Luzon, particularly in the Ilocos regions and the Cordilleras. It is traditionally made from cotton yarn and dyed with sap from a plum called sagut. The yarns are then woven through a loom. Because of this mechanism, the inabel textile is strong and can last generations.
Through conscious efforts, Mang Inabel aims to sustain this dying art by cooperating with Ilocano weavers. As a form of appreciation to our culture, we strive to bring the inabel textile from the looms of our weavers to the comfort of your homes.
